Am thinking about getting a doctorate in rehabilitation, as opposed to a doctorate in clinical psychology or some other related field. My specialization is in rehab counseling for deafness, so if I were to go into a doctoral program for rehab, then my Master's degree would shave off a couple of years from the time needed to complete the requirements for such a degree. Hmm ... We'll see.
It's been quite some time since my last post on LiveJournal. And for good reason, too. For the last few months or so, I've been busy, and never felt motivated enough to update my LiveJournal on a regular basis. From this point on, I probably won't be posting very much on LiveJournal, and there's even the chance that I just might stop posting altogether on this site. Who knows? Anyways, here's a quick snippet of what's been going on with me as of late: A) I've just graduated with my Master's in Counseling with a specialization in Deafness (with an excellent cumulative GPA, to boot - that will help for future academic endeavors if I should decide to enter into them), and B) Today's my birthday (I'm 25 years old). Whee. Damn near forgot my own birthday until I looked at a calendar to check out something. Birthdays don't matter that much to me anymore, I guess. Of course, there's other stuff going on in my life, none of which warrants mention here in a forum as public as this one.
Well, it's not exactly "Hell" per se, but that's what it feels like, at least right now, with the cold I've been afflicted with for the last day or so. I know I've not updated in a long while, but a lot has been going on with school in the last few weeks, and that's kept me kinda preoccupied on the side. It won't be long before I'll be going out on my graduate internship, and then after that gets underway, it'll be days away from graduation before I know it.
I've spent some time thinking about what I'd like to do after graduation, and as of right now, I'm still not so sure about what that will be, exactly. But moving to another state has remained a strong, consistent possibility throughout my thinking about the general subject itself. Montana, Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, and the possibility of moving to one of the East coast states have been touched upon by myself every now and then, but I still haven't really gained any ground on any of these possible choices. I guess right now I'm at a point where I've had to put things on hold for a while more before I can really sit down a few times and think about what options are there on the table for myself to look at.
Maybe a road trip would be in order after I graduate? Hmm.
(President Bush penned a poem for his wife for her to read upon her return from visiting dignitaries in Europe; the full text of the poem is provided below. Thought there'd be at least a few people who'd want to check out the President's writing skills. There's not much that can be said about most of the poem, but the last two parts to it actually aren't all THAT bad.)
Roses are red Violets are blue Oh my, lump in the bed How I've missed you. Roses are redder Bluer am I Seeing you kissed by that charming French guy. The dogs and the cat, they missed you too Barney's still mad you dropped him, he ate your shoe The distance, my dear, has been such a barrier Next time you want an adventure, just land on a carrier.
(What do you think?)
While browsing a forum online, I ran across this thread about an alleged time traveler. At first, when I read the initial post in the thread about this subject, I thought it was a hoax, but after having done some extensive reading on this website ( http://www.johntitor.com), I can say with at least some reasonable certainty that this just might (as outlandish as it may seem) actually have a shred of credence to it that deserves more than just a cursory look. Even if it's a hoax (which I'm cautiously thinking of it as at the present time), you have to admit that it does get you around to thinking about ourselves and our potential future. Check it all out at the URL I typed out above.
Not too long ago, I'd developed symptoms that seemed very similar to these had by diabetics, and my thoughts immediately shifted to possibly having diabetes, since I am overweight (but I don't look like it, really, save for a beer-looking belly), and I also have a history of it in my family (paternal side). I got myself tested at the university clinic, and I found out the results today. They came back normal (with the exception of some low "good" cholestrol, which was offset by my having low "bad" cholestrol). The doctor gave me the name of a dietician to make an appointment with at the university clinic (which I promptly did after finding out the results and going over them with the doctor). Needless to say, I view this as a "second chance," and it's one that I won't let pass me by. "Operation Lose Fat" is now in effect. Beware. |
